Pretty Good Privacy is a standard method of encrypting and decrypting messages. Anyone can encrypt a message with a public key, but only me — the one in possession of the corresponding private key — can decrypt the message. Modern-day PGP schemes use fairly large public keys for encryption, which means decrypting a PGP-encrypted message addressed to me without my permission is computationally infeasible.
